| The
Lake District, of course, abounds with activities of all kinds.
From a glimpse into history and heritage at Wordsworth's Cottage
in Grasmere, to the heights of England's highest mountain,
Scafell Pike, there is something for everyone here.
If you take a map of the Lake District National Park and
find the centre of it, that's roughly where you'll find Elterwater
Park. We are blessed by being near to so much of the best
that the Lake District has to offer; Ambleside, Coniston,
Grasmere, Windermere, and Hawkshead are all only a few miles
away, while the Cumbrian Way runs literally past our front
door.
Transport
Elterwater Park staff are able to offer you a transport service
to or from different locations in the area. This allows you
to be flexible in your plans for the day, for example you
can book transport to some point along the Cumbrian Way then
walk back to Elterwater Park, or we can drop you off at the
start of your walk and pick you up at the end. You can find
more information, along with a table of charges, on our Tariff
page.
Walking and climbing
The upper end of Langdale offers access to the best hill
walking and climbing that the Lake District has to offer,
while the Grizedale Forest Park is just a few miles down the
road.
Of course, the sun doesn't always shine so guests are welcome
to use our drying room should the need arise.
Bird watching
Ornithologists can relax in our garden, entranced by the
birds nesting in the eaves, watching for the occasional hawk
or falcon soaring over the fields, or take a stroll down to
Elterwater village to see the famous swans.
However you spend your day, we have maps and guide books
to help you and, of course, we are happy to prepare a packed
lunch to allow you a full day out and about.
